STUDYING AT DiSLL
The library
Thanks to its nearly 500 subscriptions to both print and electronic journals and to its collection of approximately 270,000 monographs available on open shelves, the DiSLL library is acknowledged as one of the largest libraries in its field in Italy.
Located at 28 via Beato Pellegrino, it is part of the Humanities Library along with the Philosophy, History, Antiquities, Music and Art libraries.
Along with on-site services, users may access and enjoy the digital services of the University Library System without physically entering the library: these include over 139,378 scientific journals, approximately 430,000 e-books, 770 databases and a wide range of images, documents, audio, music, video and teaching resources managed via the Phaidra platform.

Learning Italian
Students enrolled at DiSLL may enjoy the opportunity of attending the Italian language courses offered by CLA, the University Language Centre: these are addressed to all foreign guests that are somehow connected with the University of Padova, from students to visiting professors. Courses are available free-of-charge and include both intensive courses (available on an annual basis in September) and biannual courses.
Via its Moodle platform, the Language Centre also offers a whole set of aids for self-study, including online courses and a number of initiatives and proposals designed to help students improve their language skills (e.g. tandem learning, meeting with other students and audiovisual materials).
Summer Schools
The DiSLL is actively involved in the organization of the Summer and Winter Schools run by the University of Padova in cooperation with foreign universities.
Among these programmes, the following are particularly worth mentioning:
- The Summer School of Italian Culture held in Padova and addressed to students from the University of Sidney;
- The role of drama in higher and adult language education: teacher training and the challenges of inclusion held in Grenoble (France) in the framework of the collaboration between Université Grenoble Alpes and the University of Padova;
- The Summer School in Translation Studies organized in Bassano del Grappa by the French Society for Translation Studies (SoFT) headquartered in the Paris‐Nanterre University in cooperation with DiSLL.
