RESEARCH
Research at DiSLL covers four broad subject areas: Linguistics, Philology, Literature, and Performing Arts. In particular, DiSLL promotes study and advanced research into European and trans-continental literary and linguistic traditions, languages, texts, authors, historical and cultural contexts and related theoretical and methodological issues. At the same time, DiSLL strongly favours an interdisciplinary and comparative approach: this entails paying attention to linguistic and cultural interaction and dialogue, being aware of the permanent link existing between teaching and research, and considering the possible impact research may have on the community from a cultural and operational point of view.

DiSLL also promotes research into fields such as Intercultural Studies, Gender and Post-Colonial Studies, Translation Studies, Literary and Specialized Translation, Media Studies, Corpus Linguistics and E-learning.
Research lines are directly connected with the activity that is carried out by numerous research groups and within the framework of either European (e.g. ERC – Starting Grant) or national (e.g. PRIN, FIRB, regional funding opportunities, etc.) projects.
CALLS FOR RESEARCH
Besides offering a wide range of research possibilities for early career scholars (Calls for research activity), DiSLL also participates in the University of Padova Visiting Scientist and Visiting Professor Programmes (https://www.unipd.it/visiting-scientist), both of which include specific welcome services (https://www.unipd.it/en/research-0/international-scholars). Individual researchers are equally welcome as independent scholars who apply either upon invitation by a Professor working at DiSLL (https://www.disll.unipd.it/category/ruoli/personale-docente) or through the administrative secretary office (segreteria.disll@unipd.it).
For the purpose of facilitating the mobility of students, researchers and professors and organizing advanced educational and research activities (https://www.unipd.it/scambi-accordi-bilaterali), DiSLL is also interested in making international agreements with other Departments focusing on the same research areas (https://www.unipd.it/scambi-accordi-bilaterali).
